News UKT on the podium 3 times at Pembrey
11th October 2008
A very successful weekend at Pembrey, South Wales saw UKT Racing on the Podium 3 times during the last weekend. The Seddon Atkinson had arrived in Wales following a minor rebuild. The rebuild work had delayed the planned fuel injection development and towards the end of the weekend this did start to show. Elton was consistent and managed 2 2nd place positions in the first 2 races. Race 3 was to prove more of a challenge, but by far the most exciting racing of the weekend.
Following a race incident on the previous race, the race started with a dry right hand side and a river of a left hand side to the track. As the trucks set off on the warm up lap, the left hand column were all anticipating a slippery end to the first straight. This made for an interesting first hairpin, were all of the trucks did go through successfully. Elton was on the left and was quickly demoted from 2nd to 4th. Tangled up in the traffic, Elton was part of a pack running bumper to bumper for the next few laps. Finally Elton lined up to out brake Ben Horne in the race to the same notorious hairpin. Looking in the mirrors he could count down to the inevitable impact as Horne collided into the back of Boocock at the corner. As the Silver Seddon spun, it was stopped by the Volvo White of Horne and the pursuit intensified as Elton then went bumper to bumper again with Ben and Steven Powell. Elton managed to break free of the group and secured 3rd place.
With 2 2nd places and 1 3rd, Boocock lost 2 points over the 3 race weekend to 3rd placed Garry George. Whilst Elton has a comfortable 10 point lead over Garry, the final outcome of the B class championship will go all the way to the final race at Brands hatch. Cees Zandbergen has done all he needs and is the 2008 championship winner leaving the real challenge to 2nd and 3rd placed Boocock and George. The battle continues on the 1/2nd November at Brands Hatch.
