Podium finishes are snow problem for Elton
Elton Boocock seemed to excel in the treacherous conditions for the opening rounds of the championship. The 2008 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship started with the extra spectacle of snow. In blizzard conditions, the Easter weekend looked more like a scene from a Christmas card. This was no problem for Elton as he made full effect of the conditions to take 2 out of 2 podium finishes. Taking home a 2nd and 3rd place he was delighted to have closed the door on the mechanical problems he had suffered during 2007.
Elton said “The major difference is the work on the injectors that Merlin Diesels (Preston) have carried out. It’s just so good to have the power back. We are still 200 horsepower down on the leaders, but managing to stay with them. The slippery track helped to level out the field and we made full use of that”.
The team still have development to do in order to increase horsepower but the season start was the talk of the paddocks. The finish was a well deserved reward for the efforts of the whole team that persevered through 2007 and the winter. A new year, new sponsors and a real shake up for the regular B class front runners.
